Dignity Health reaches new agreement with Anthem

Dignity Health is pleased to announce we have reached a new agreement with Anthem in California and Nevada that will allow Anthem-insured patients to maintain in-network access to Dignity Health services, facilities and providers. This is a win for our patients who deserve access to high-quality, high-value healthcare services close to home, and we appreciate their patience as we have worked through this process.

In Nevada, we were able to reach agreement on a new contract before the previous contract expired on Aug. 1, so there was no lapse in network status for our hospitals and providers.

In California, we did experience a brief out of network period, but the new agreement is retroactive to July 15, the date the previous contract expired, and any care received since July 15 will be considered in-network. In anticipation of reaching an agreement, we held Anthem claims, so patients should not experience any impact on their bills.

From the beginning, our goal in working with Anthem has always been about ensuring we can continue to meet the needs of our patients today and in the future. We know these negotiations were stressful for our patients, our medical staffs, the communities we serve, and our own team. We sincerely appreciate patients’ understanding during the negotiations.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on the truly essential nature of local care. Now more than ever, our patients need access to the high-quality and high-value care and services they’ve come to know and trust at Dignity Health.

We look forward to continuing serving patients for generations to come.
